ARARAT supports Restoration of the ancient manuscripts

ARARAT supports Restoration of the ancient manuscripts

On May 6, 2025, the Yerevan Brandy Company handed over specially crafted oakwood plates made by the factory’s barrel makers to the Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts named after Mesrop Mashtots. These plates are essential for preservation of ancient manuscript covers. According to this joint initiative, the Yerevan Brandy Company has undertaken a commitment to support the restoration of ancient manuscripts in this format.

The oakwood plates are made from ARARAT barrel wood which have undergone special refinement based on guidelines provided by Matenadaran’s restoration specialists.

Accompanied by the Director of Matenadaran, Yerevan Brandy Company’s COO Serge Khachatryan and Communications Manager Zaruhi Saribekyan were introduced to Matenadaran’s restoration infrastructure and scientific-technical departments. Welcoming the partners, Ara Khzmalyan has particularly noted, “The preservation of written heritage is matter of pan–Armenian responsibility. Through Matenadaran’s efforts, the written treasures from all the Armenian cultural institutions and manuscripts collections across the Armenian diaspora are being restored. Moreover, Matenadaran strengthens its commitment to the restoration of international written heritage year by year. Therefore, alongside state support, we highly value the participations of private individuals and organizations in this mission.”

“It is an honor for us to collaborate with Matenadaran, the treasury of ancient manuscripts, which can truly be considered as collective birth certificate of every Armenian. We are very glad that our active interactions with our partners constantly reveal new perspectives of cooperation.  This episode of this collaboration has a beautiful, symbolic meaning. ARARAT, by its very nature, is about heritage, so it is highly symbolic that a part of ARARAT will serve the cause of preserving our exceptional legacy”, noted the Yerevan Brandy Company’s COO Serge Khachatryan.
