Tom Catena at ARARAT Museum

Laureate of “Aurora” Humanitarian Initiative Prize of 2017 Tom Catena as well as 3 Armenian doctors who have been replacing him on the Nuba Mountains of southern Sudan accompanied by the delegation of the “Aurora” Humanitarian Initiative visited Yerevan Brandy Company. According to the visit program the delegation visited the ARARAT Museum of the Yerevan Brandy Company, where the guests were introduced to the rich history and production process of the legendary Armenian brandy ARARAT.

The delegation stopped at the Peace Barrel, founded in 2001 in honor of the co-chairs of the Minsk Group of OSCE, visited factory in 2001. The barrel is called “Peace” as it will be opened when Karabakh conflict is resolved. Tom Catena also signed in ARARAT memory book.

The delegation also visited the Treasury of Yerevan Brandy Company, where a unique collection of ARARAT brandies is kept - from the very first samples of the previous century up to our days.

“We are honored, that the start of the “Aurora” Humanitarian Initiative of 2018 is given in such a symbolic place, at the Yerevan Brandy Company, which has been supporting “Aurora” since its inception”, - said Arman Jilavian, CEO of Aurora Humanitarian Initiative.

At the end of the tour Karine Madelrieu, Sales and Marketing Director offered a special bottle of “Armenia” Brandy to Tom Catena, saying, that “with this bottle the warmth of Armenian spirit will be felt even on the Nuba Mountains”.

The legendary Armenian brandy ARARAT is produced by Yerevan Brandy Company using traditional technology, the foundations of which were laid in 1887 by the brothers Nerses and Vasily Tairyants. ARARAT brandy is created using only local endemic high-quality Armenian grapes and crystal clear spring water. Precious ARARAT brandy is aged exclusively in barrels made of Caucasian oak, produced in their in-house cooperage plant. In 1998 Yerevan Brandy Company became a part of Pernod Ricard, an international company and the world’s number 2 in wines and spirits.
