A movie that touches the heart

“Earthquake”, a major new Russian-Armenian movie, enjoyed a hugely successful premiere in Yerevan on November 10.

The epic drama – based on true stories – tells the story of the devastating Spitak earthquake, a tragedy that rocked Armenia in 1988 and united the whole world in support of its victims. The Legendary Armenian Brandy ARARAT is offering international support to the project out of its deep respect for the film’s theme.

The demand was so great that the organizers had to stage two special preview screenings on the same day. Both audiences were glued to the screen and the critics were unanimous in their praise: the movie will move anyone who sees it. The first reviews spoke of the film’s emphasis on common, universal human values that resonate with people in all corners of the world, and praised the project’s ability to unite people and encourage kindness and compassion to one another.

Following the premiere, the film team visited the Yerevan Brandy Company for a unique guided tour of the acclaimed ARARAT Museum. The special guests included “Earthquake’s” producer, and head of the Mars Media company, Ruben Dishdishyan, the film’s director Sarik Andreasyan, and many of its stars, including the Cannes Film Festival’s Palm d’Or winner Konstantin Lavronenko, Maria Mironova and Irina Bezrukova. As always, a degustation of the Legendary Armenian Brandy was one of the highlights of the event.

On November 17, the long-awaited Moscow premiere was held at the Oktyabr cinema.

The creators of the movie said that one of the key themes of the project was internationalism, reflecting on a point in history when disparate nations and people were united in a common desire to help others. The end result is a movie that speaks to people throughout the world. “Earthquake” is both a truly Armenian film, and a genuinely international project.

The Moscow premiere also attracted great interest. The invitation-only screening was followed by a special cocktail organized by the Legendary Armenian Brandy at Dolmama, the flagship restaurant of the ARARAT brand. The sophisticated audience greatly appreciated the elegant serving and multi-faceted taste of ARARAT and congratulated the film creators on a successful premiere.

The Legendary Armenian Brandy ARARAT continues to work as an official partner to the forthcoming premieres of “Earthquake” in Tallinn, Riga and Minsk in November 2016.

“Earthquake” will go on general release on December 1, 2016.
