«Pushkin’s Fairy Tales» at the Theatre of Nations


Robert Wilson is considered as one of the most sought-after stage directors in the world. His brilliant talent and bold theatrical experiments have earned him fame as the greatest representative of avant-garde theatre of the late 20th to early 21st centuries. He has worked for world’s most prestigious stages — from the Paris Opéra Bastille to the Deutsches Theatre in Berlin, from Milanґs La Scala to the Metropolitan Opera, from the National Theatre of Prague to Brussels La Monnaie. Participants in his productions have included soloists Isabelle Huppert, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Willem Dafoe, Jessye Norman, Marina Abramovich, Lady Gaga and many others.
Robert Wilson chose the best young actors to perform in his play, «Pushkin’s Fairy Tales» famous for their roles at the Theatre of Nations, including Daria Moroz and Dmitriy Serdyuk, Yelena Nikolaeva, Oleg Savtsov, Anna Galinova and Alexander Novin, and others.
The acting troupe was led by the the theatre’s artistic director and People’s Artist of Russia, Yevgeniy Mironov, who played the role of the Storyteller. Also, the famous German opera director Nicola Panzer participated in the production, along with the leading theatrical lighting designer, A.J. Weissbard, and one of the best young stage designers in the world — Annick Lavallee-Benny. Music for the play was composed by the famous American duo CocoRosie, praised for their extraordinary image and musical style.
After a standing ovation, the guests moved into the foyer of the theatre where a drink from the premiere’s partner, the Legendary Armenian Brandy ARARAT, awaited them. The light and aromatic combinations prepared using the classical theatre drink were incomparable, and complemented the evening of the premiere.The classic base and surprising mixture of ingredients creating the unique taste of the cocktails became a genuine symbol of avant-garde theatre.
